Nurses from all over Texas visited the capitol in Austin, Texas on March 2, 2009. These nurses lobbied for several bills being proposed to help the healthcare industry and nursing. There were many debates about certain pieces of legislation as nurses met with their local representatives all day to voice their support and concerns. There were also several groups of nursing students present getting in on the action to protect their future in the field of nursing. It was great to see so many nurses and advocates of nursing working together! It was a successful day for nurses everywhere in Texas, and their voices were heard!

Arizona

Arizona is HOT! How hot is it? It is 75 degrees! What a great place to be right now! While many other states are digging out of snow and ice, Southern Arizona is basking in 70-80 degree temperatures. What a great place to work and play during the winter months! Arizona has it all, you choose… warm beautiful weather in Phoenix, or 3 hours north play in the snow. Visit the Grand Canyon or grab a mountain cabin in Flagstaff! Enjoy beauty like no other at Sedona, and plan to stay over at a posh bed and breakfast or experience the wonderful spas available. Come to Phoenix and enjoy the college crowd near the university, or try the nightlife in Scottsdale’s many clubs. There’s shopping, golfing, fun and fitness outdoors…beautiful scenery and varied terrain. Don’t spend another winter sloshing through ice and snow unless you want too!

NEW MEXICO

Why travel to New Mexico? It is rich in history with fabulous old cathedrals, native culture, and architecture enough to keep the photo buff busy for years. There’s winter time skiing and snowmobile adventures in Northern New Mexico, and summertime offers hiking and exploration of caves in southern New Mexico. Choose from jewelry, turquoise and original artwork while visiting wonderful tourist shops, in quaint little mountain towns. Or perhaps you would prefer an assignment in Albuquerque in September during “Balloon Fiesta”, the nation’s largest hot air balloon festival. OKLAHOMA

Oklahoma is a beautiful state, full of rolling hills, trees and water holes! What a place to visit! Whether you love crafts and antiques, or want to spend the day out on the lake fishing, Oklahoma has something for everyone.

Here it is almost Thanksgiving!

As we approach the "Be Thankful" month I would like to share what I am thankful for and learn more about what you are thankful for too!

I am thankful for a husband that treats me like a princess all the time! I am thankful for good health and the love and support of my children and grandchildren!

Like everyone else, I am thankful for a great job, and great coworkers...and that I decided to become a nurse after I'd raised my kids! I am thankful for a career that has so many options and allows me to be me! My life is filled with great blessings!

I could go on and on about the good things in life! What we choose to focus on daily is up to us as individuals..the whole "glass half empty or half full" perspective! Today mine is not just half full it is full and running over!

Well said! I am so thankful for everything in my life: my hubby and my puppy, my family and the doctors and nurses who are part of my daily life! :) We all have so many reasons to be thankful.

I am so thankful for my my wonderful husband and good health....there is so much to be thankful for this past year I just can't even start to mention!!
