Nurse Day at the Capitol

Nurse Day at the Capitol 2009

Nurses from all over Texas visited the capitol in Austin, Texas on March 2, 2009. These nurses lobbied for several bills being proposed to help the healthcare industry and nursing. There were many debates about certain pieces of legislation as nurses met with their local representatives all day to voice their support and concerns. There were also several groups of nursing students present getting in on the action to protect their future in the field of nursing. It was great to see so many nurses and advocates of nursing working together! It was a successful day for nurses everywhere in Texas, and their voices were heard!

Click on the link below to check out pictures from the capitol with all the great nurses who attended the event.

I have been studying the diagnosing criteria for several psychiatric disorders based on the DSM-IV Axis I. In addition, I've been breaking down the classifications of psychiatric drugs, their side effects, nursing implications & doses.

The diagnosis criteria is one of the most subjective aspects in psychiatric nursing.  Mental deficiencies are a difficult task for even the most experienced health care professionals.
